Hunter Grant

Capital Project Manager

Hunter Grant was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, where he currently resides. An Interior Salish Status Indian, he is also of mixed South Asian, West Asian, and European ancestry. His native language is English, but he also speaks & writes fluent French and Spanish.

Hunter is a recent graduate of the University of Victoria, where he excelled in his academic career, majoring in Spanish and minoring in French and Film Studies. His language studies focused on the literature, culture, and politics of various regions of the world. During his undergrad he began working part-time at Tyhee, mentoring under the full-time employees and taking supplementary online courses on how to navigate the accounting software used to manage Tyhee’s clients.

Hunter spent much of his adolescence balancing his talents for academics, athletics, and the arts. He was a multi-sport athlete who competed in wrestling and rugby at the national and international levels, traveling across Canada and around the world as he did. These experiences broadened his perspectives and instilled in him a desire to give back to his communities, both local and global. Most recently, he has done so by coaching youth rugby. In August 2022, Hunter went on an Indigenous Thunder Rugby Sevens tour as a coach and chaperone of four high school Sevens teams from across BC. Over the course of two weeks, they traveled the West Coast by bus to Los Angeles to compete in the L.A Sevens Tournament. In August 2023 he once again coached for a Thunder Rugby tour, traveling with a youth rugby team to New Zealand.

These days Hunter is a full-time member of the Tyhee Financial Services team, helping in their mission to provide fiscal management, consulting, advice, and mentorship to its First Nations clients. There he divides his time between accounting, bookkeeping, proposal writing, and securing funding for numerous capital, cultural, educational, and socio-economic projects. In his time at Tyhee Financial, Hunter has assisted in rolling out a number of large-scale projects, including the construction of a community daycare, a lacrosse box, and a bridge connecting the east and west ends of the nearby Lillooet River.
